Cover art I did for an OC Remix forum competition compilation album. That doesn't sound like a huge deal, but it was an asston of fun to follow. Any friend who's spoken to me within the last several months knows I went stefanijoanneangelinagermanotta over it. Kind of need that justification when you spend all of February drawing thirty-six robots - most of which for the very first time - at the cost of personal hygiene and human interaction.
Groupings: There were 12 teams, each with three remixers. Each of these 36 participants picked his/her own Robot Master theme to remix throughout the competition. My depictions of the RMs are based on a combination of the dynamic each team had and the music they produced (if there was enough to go on).
It was also my first brush with the OCR forums and that community. NEVER has there been a place on the internet where the combined charisma of the members was this great (and the level of drama this low). Check dat shit ooout.
They do have names! Lemme see if I still remember em' all. So left to right,
Row 1: The Skull Men, Bad Guy Robots from Mega Man, The Hard Men; Row 2: E-Tank, The Concrete Men (probably got this name because they all contributed a remix to the Concrete Man tribute CD), Blue Bomber Brotherhood); Row 3: The Beat Busters, The Gentlemasters Club, The Mega Ballers; and Row 4: Dr. Light's Luminosity Legion, Block Rockman Beats, Cold Steel.
I know I keep saying dis shit, but this is easily one of your best works, Robo. For someone who draws many of these Robot Masters for the first time, you have an uncanny knack to make them look authentic and expressive. It's one of those pieces that catches the eye and makes you scour the image for all the details you included. Clash Man and Grenade Man in a pissing contest..... Hornet Man's boombox behind a strangely effeminate Plant Man..... and tee-hee, poor Chill Man. XD
Most importantly, I'm glad you had a blast making this. It's unusually extensive for someone who typically does quick sketches and feel blue about it later on. I knew you what you could accomplish when your heart is in it, and the positive reception is well-deserved.
I never told you how awesome these were, did I? How awesome these were!!! Although it unfortunately trims the art for each individual piece, it turned out great as a cover. I retagged all those initial mp3s with it when you first put it up on Tumblya.
I know you haven't drawn Classic a ton, but there's nary a one that doesn't look great in your style. While it's hard to pick a single fave of the trios, I most certainly love the class of the Gentlemaster's Club and the band approach of the Bad Guy Robots. And seriously, when I look at the lineart for Shade and Bubs, among others, I think to myself how your work bests many of the Archie pencilers. You seriously need to submit lineart like this to their Mega Mail and totally ask for a job at the same time. YOU CAN DO IT!

Phew!
